The company was formed in November 1979 and based in our former premises at 43 Gilesgate in Hexham. Gilesgate has two directors namely Alan Isbister and his wife Judith.

Gilesgate's huge success in the North East began right at the start with the official opening in November 1979. At that time Gilesgate became a dedicated Volvo dealership.

Due to it's policy of providing high levels of customer service the company rapidly outgrew it's original premises. In June 1985 Gilesgate moved to it's prestigious new site at Dene Park in Hexham. The new location provided more space and easy parking for customers whilst remaining a short five minute walk from the town centre.

The Dene Park site boasts a large and airy showroom with a seven bay workshop area. Gilesgate supports a fully equipped parts department and an outside display area catering for up to forty vehicles.

Over the years Gilesgate has played it's part in the life of the area, becoming involved in local environmental issues and sponsoring events such as the Heart of All England Steeplechase at Hexham for the last ten years.

In March 1996 Gilesgate were appointed official Subaru Dealers.
